A child care operation is only as good as its workers. The program identifies the three major roles of a caregiver (maternal, therapeutic and instructional) and corresponding characteristic behaviors. Managers and directors of child care facilities explore how to look for and encourage these traits in their staff. Caregiver responsibilities are outlined, such as keeping the environment safe, knowledge of child development, good personal hygiene, attending to children's hygiene and using effective communicative skills. A supplement is included.
