With the growing number of dual-career and single-parent families, the issue of child care is a vital concern. Students will compare child care options for children of various ages, financial obligations involved and identify criteria for selecting quality child care. Students will examine how a caregiver can also be a teacher, and the ten signs of a great preschool. Students will look at how child care costs can take an economic toll on a family's budget and the impact family structure has on child care options. Community resources, public policies and the impact of culture and demographics on the welfare of children are also presented.
